The other day I was climbing around with my friends in the hills north of Ljubljana, a real good day out and wome real good memories, this was three days ago.
Now, looking at the shutters infornt of the window. The sun really got a hold of me yesterday. I was leaving Skofja Loka around ten in the morning and the sun was already strong and cruel. I had some troubble with the new chain i put on the bike and i had to stop occationaly to try to adjust the gears that just kept on hoping.
I became more and more sick to my stomach as the day proceeded, eating was hard and i kept drinking water along but feeling this did not help to cool me down and at about five in the afternoon with some 50km still to go I stopped the bike at the side of the road, walked it out in the forest and laid down and fell asleep instantly. I awoke some 30 minutes later, a bit chocked and i sat up to drink and think over my situation. As I put my hand infront of my face I could feel my head still radiating heat.
I decided to keep going, I had a sandwich and some vitamines. I tried to listen to some music but this really made me feel even more sick, surprised me a bit, maybe something to do with the sense of balance?
I have this really good impression of Slovenia, after meeting Marija and her family I thought that this is really the place to live. The closeness to the sea and to the Alps really makes it like a small version of New Zeeland in Europe. Getting around is simple and quick even with bike as the country is some 200km across.
Here in Maribor, and in Skofja Loka I have been treated to some of the brilliance of Balkan food culture. Even though people keep telling me that the real good food is to be found in Serbia already here it is great. maybe people are just a bit shy and hiding some of their talents and then at the end of the day, at the dinner table they keep pulling out ace after ace.
